David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan to Star in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy

Warner Bros. has announced the casting of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as the new Superman and Lois Lane in James Gunn's upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. The film is set to be released in July 2025.

Corenswet is best known for his roles in the Netflix series The Politician and Hollywood. He has also appeared in the films The Sound of Philadelphia and The Chaperone. Brosnahan is best known for her role as Midge Maisel in the Amazon Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She has also won two Golden Globe Awards for her performance in the show.

Gunn, who is also writing and directing the film, said that he was "thrilled" to have Corenswet and Brosnahan on board. "They are both incredibly talented actors who I know will bring the characters of Superman and Lois Lane to life in a way that will resonate with audiences around the world," he said.

Superman: Legacy is a reboot of the Superman film franchise. The previous film in the franchise, Justice League, was released in 2017. The film was a critical and commercial disappointment, and Warner Bros. has been looking to reboot the franchise ever since.

Superman: Legacy is expected to be a more hopeful and optimistic take on the character than previous films. Gunn has said that he wants to make a film that will "remind people why they love Superman."

The film is also expected to be more diverse than previous films. Corenswet is the first Jewish actor to play Superman, and Brosnahan is the first Jewish actress to play Lois Lane.

Superman: Legacy is currently in production. The film is scheduled to be released in July 2025.
